Globalfields, compagnia che si occupa di Climate Change, diretta dall’italiana Marta Simonetti, ha istituito il Globalfields Nature Award.
Le piccole azioni possono fare una grande differenza? Eseguite una o due volte, singole azioni potrebbero non avere un impatto significativo. Tuttavia, se ripetute nel tempo e adottate da un gran numero di persone, quelle stesse azioni possono fare un’enorme differenza: come la pura forza dell’acqua che si infrange contro una roccia può modificarne la forma, o addirittura romperla.
Lo stesso principio si applica all’azione per il clima e all’ambiente. Ovunque viviamo, l’ambiente è intorno a noi. È l’aria che respiriamo, l’acqua che beviamo, il cibo che mangiamo, l’energia che consumiamo, una passeggiata nei boschi o in spiaggia. In che modo ognuno di noi può contribuire a risolvere gli impatti negativi del cambiamento climatico o del degrado ambientale? Quali sono le sfide che dobbiamo affrontare in relazione alla natura e come possono affrontarle le piccole imprese? Come possiamo difendere i diritti della natura attraverso piccole azioni?
Categorie
Saggio fotografico
§ Il foto-saggio consisterà in una serie di 4-6 fotografie che hanno lo scopo di raccontare una storia o evocare emozioni nello spettatore. I saggi fotografici possono essere di natura sequenziale per essere visualizzati in un ordine particolare, oppure possono consistere in fotografie non ordinate, che possono essere visualizzate tutte in una volta per rivelarne il carattere e le dinamiche.
§ Le fotografie devono essere attinenti al tema del concorso ed esclusivamente a colori.
§ Le fotografie devono essere accompagnate da un abstract di 200 parole; o una descrizione di 30 parole per immagine.
Saggio / articolo scritto
§ I saggi o gli articoli consisteranno in un documento con un titolo, un abstract di 200 parole e un saggio / articolo di 1.000-1.400 parole (inclusi titolo, citazioni e note a piè di pagina ma non tabelle o diagrammi). Devono essere inclusi anche una bibliografia e il conteggio delle parole. Non possiamo accettare saggi più lunghi di 1.400 parole.
§ I saggi / articoli devono essere attinenti al tema del concorso e scritti in inglese. Le voci devono essere inviate in formato Word o Pages.
Poesia
§ Le voci di poesia consisteranno in una poesia con un titolo di lunghezza non superiore a 60 righe (titolo escluso).
§ Le poesie saranno accompagnate da un abstract di 200 parole.
§ Le poesie devono essere attinenti al tema del concorso e scritte in inglese.
§ Le voci devono essere inviate in formato Word o Pages

Can small actions make a big difference? Executed once or twice, single actions might not have a significant impact. However, if repeated over time and adopted by a large number of people, those same actions can make a huge difference:like the sheer power of water smashing against a rock can change its shape, or even break it.
The same principle applies to climate action and the environment. Wherever we live, the environment is around us. It is the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the energy we consume, a walk in the woods or at the beach. How can each one of us contribute to solve adverse impacts of climate change or of environmental degradation? What are the challenges we face in relation to nature and how can small businesses deal with those? How can we uphold nature’s rights through small actions?
In these challenging times, where we all had to make significant changes to the way we live, work and socialise, we can understand more than ever how deeply connected, and dependent on, the environment we are. In such fragile word, even the smallest of actions can be of significance.
The Globalfields Nature Award was established in early 2021 to encourage, promote and reward such actions.
We therefore invite you to share your ideas by participating in the competition. You may choose to enter a series of photos, or to write an essay, an article or a poem, depicting a personal or a generic story.
The Competition is open to last year university undergraduate and postgraduate students aged 19 or over at the time of entering, other than Globalfields employees and collaborators and their family members. International entries are welcome.
Three competition winners will be awarded with an internship at Globalfields from autumn 2021. Up to ten additional participants will have the chance to see their work published in a book that will be released to mark our third anniversary on September 3, 2021.
Categories
Photo essay
§ The photo-essay will consist of a set of 4-6 photographs that are intended to tell a story or evoke emotions in the viewer. Photo essays can be sequential in nature to be viewed in a particular order, or they may consist of non-ordered photographs, which may be viewed all at once to reveal their character and dynamics.
§ Photographs must be relevant to the competition theme and exclusively in colour.
§ Photographs must be accompanied by a 200-word abstract; or a 30 words description per picture.
Written Essay/Article
§ Essays or articles will consist of one document with a title, a 200-word abstract, and an essay/article of 1,000-1,400 words (including title, quotes and footnotes but not tables or diagrams). A bibliography and word count must also be included. We cannot accept essays longer than 1,400words.
§ Essays/articles must be relevant to the competition theme and written inEnglish. Entries must be submitted in Word or Pages format.
Poetry
§ Poetry entries will consist of one poem with a title not exceeding 60 lines in length (excluding title).
§ Poems will be accompanied by a 200-word abstract.
§ Poems must be relevant to the competition theme and written in English.
§ Entries must be submitted in Word or Pages format
