UNITED STATES | NIAF and the Italian Scientists & Scholars in North America Foundation Partner to Showcase Excellence of Italian Americans

(Washington, D.C. – December 7, 2021) The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) and the Italian Scientists & Scholars in North America Foundation (ISSNAF), headquartered in Atherton, Calif., have partnered to promote the many accomplishments achieved by Italian Americans and Italians living in the United States who work in the field of science and technology.

Both organizations will collaborate to disseminate information and news through social media, press releases and website announcements. The promotion is not only limited to the field of science and technology but will also feature news on Italy-America trade, economics, culture, diplomacy, language and quality of life.

“ISSNAF is a network of Italian-educated researchers and innovators who have made their home in the USA. Our collective expertise is a resource that can be leveraged for the good of both Italy and the USA, as our members are often citizens of both countries. As such we feel a special connection with the NIAF community, and it is natural that we want to celebrate together many of the things that we share and bond us. This is what this cooperation agreement is all about,” said ISSNAF President and Associate Chief Scientist at NASA/JPL, Cinzia Zuffada.

“To partner with such a prestigious organization is a real honor for NIAF. From Galileo Galilei and Leonardo Fibonacci to Alessandro Volta, Enrico Fermi, Rita Levi-Montalcini and countless others, Italians have always been at the forefront of science, math, physics and invention,” added NIAF Chairman Robert E. Carlucci. “It’s up to us to shine light on the scientists and scholars of today and that’s exactly what this partnership is all about.”

The partnership will also see joint events take place throughout the nation. On December 9, ISSNAF will host its Annual Event in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in the United States, under the high patronage of the President of the Italian Republic. The virtual event will feature the award ceremony presenting the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2021 Young Investigator Awards, as well as a round-table discussion on the food system transformation for global sustainability.
